According to Dr. Vivek Sharma, orthopedic surgeon at Stony Point Surgery Center, there’s usually an uptick in the number of patients seeking treatment for shoulder pain during the cold weather months.
The first line of defense against knee injuries is prevention. Vivek Sharma, M.D., specializing in sports medicine, cartilage repair, and shoulder and knee reconstruction at Colonial Orthopaedics, explains that there are two main types of knee injuries. Traumatic injuries occur when playing sports or exercising and are signaled by an acute onset of pain; chronic injuries occur with overuse or overexertion and can happen over time when a person doesn’t give their body’s tissues and muscles enough time to recover.
Colonial Orthopaedics and Chesterfield United Soccer club organize ” Soccer Injury prevention Clinic” on December 12th at 7pm at Riversbend office.
Dr Sharma is a team physician for Richmond Raiders arena football team and VSU college basketball team.
